I've Been Finishing Basements Since Before It Was Cool

Hey — I'm Kory Farr, owner of Utah Basement Finishing (operating under SALT LLC). Thanks for checking us out.

Here's the short version: I've spent over two decades finishing basements across Utah's Wasatch Front. Not managing from an office — actually on the job, solving problems, making sure things get done right. That hands-on approach is something I'll never give up, because it's the reason our work looks the way it does.

I got into this trade because I love the transformation. You walk into someone's basement and it's cold concrete, exposed pipes, maybe some storage boxes. A few weeks later, it's the best room in their house. Their kids are playing down there. They're hosting movie nights. That never gets old.

Why I Started This Company

After years working in the industry, I kept seeing the same problems. Big companies that treated customers like ticket numbers. Contractors who'd start a job and disappear for weeks. Guys who'd cut corners where they thought nobody would notice.

I figured there had to be a better way. So I built a company around what I'd want if I were the homeowner:

• Crews I trust — every person on your job is someone I've personally vetted and worked alongside

I'm not going to pretend we're the cheapest option — we're not. But I will tell you that we're the crew your neighbor recommends after we finish their basement. The one they actually call back for their next project.

We've completed over 500 basement projects across Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, and Weber counties. Each one taught me something. After 20+ years, there's not a lot I haven't seen — water issues, tricky layouts, permit headaches, impossible timelines. We handle it.

Our work is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. Every project gets pulled permits and proper inspections. I don't do handshake deals — I do it by the book because your home deserves that protection.
