“SALT finished our walk-out basement. It was a good-sized project, about 850sq ft or so. We wanted to make a separate one-bedroom apartment that included a kitchenette with everything, a laundry closet, a bedroom, and a full bathroom. We also had them finish another room in the back area for a small gym room. The project took a little over four months. Korey was easy to get a hold of and would answer any questions we had, and all the sub-contractors were quick, friendly, and efficient. Every construction group that came through always cleaned up after themselves. Brian, the cabinet maker, somehow made the kitchen work well and look great! Though the project took longer than I would have liked, the end product is impressive. We are happy with the results!”

We'd worked with Korey before- fifteen years ago when we refinished our Park City basement- they did a great job then and when we moved into a 100 year old landmark house in SLC they were there for us again. The job took a great deal of imagination and special carpentry to conceal exposed pipes, conduit and wiring that was all over the ceiling. The workmanship is first rate- framing, finishing, tile work, everything. The subs have worked together for years so the timing was seamless and Korey was especially helpful in staying on budget. We could not be more satisfied. I'll include some before and afters- more or less in order. We chose a dark color for the main room downstairs as a "speakeasy" and theater room- the guys fabricated a glass French door into the new bedroom/all purpose room, and the bathroom transformation was "wow". “We had never finished a basement or hired any sort of contractor in our lives so we didn't really know what to expect. It was probably overkill, but we interviewed 7 different contractors before we decided to hire SALT. Korey was one of two people who actually measured the basement and the only person who gave us a drawing with the quote. That combined with answering all our questions in the initial visit, being socially aware, and a reasonable quote helped us decide to go with them. We started talking with them at the beginning of December, 2019. We agreed on a contract and they started January 3, 2020. I think the last sub contractor was in our house March 9. My point here is that they work very quickly and efficiently. If we had a second basement that needed to be finished, we would hire these guys in a heartbeat.”

“I had Salt construction finish our basement. I check out a few other companies first. I didn't want a plain old finish. I didn't want just plain walls in canned lighting. I had a whole French country style in mind, with lots of ideas and cut from magazines. I had a very specific plan. I was worried if I would be able to find a company that could do it all. As soon as I talk to Korey I was sure he knew what I wanted. Their company is for style not just for getting the four walls done. I didn't have to worry about any paperwork or filing with the city, an inspections were all handled. They even thought to have a large dumpster for their debris and a portable potty for the guys. And to top it off they don't even bother you when they come, they go through the basement window so they can come and go with no problems. I wanted many extras I knew I wanted and light bright basement. I wanted bead board, and other upgrades. Kory had many ideas of how to do what I wanted and even added more ideas. Not only did we put in the bead board, but he's great suggestions we added, Borden Batten and board, I love it. I had a large space in the hallway that I wasn't sure what to do with and Kory came up with a great idea right away. He suggested window seat and built-in book cases that are gorgeous. They were great to work with. We had workers here every week day and many workers at time. They even put up with me texting day and night, they always got right back to me within just minutes. I had a lot of items that were out of the ordinary from with that they were used to installing. I had fancy facets, and a several hundred pounds footed tub that somehow were able to get downstairs. But what ever came up they took it in stride and got their work done and done well. Korey was even was able to find and order the upgrade faucets that I wanted. They are so great with details, they even go over where and how many plugs and light switches you want. One of the extra fun things Kory thought of was a little door to a play room under the stairs that the grandkids have gotten a lot of use out of it. It's not just a plain door either. It's a cute little fancy door with an open window and door knob and we even added a doorbell. There carpenter was a highly skilled craftsmen. I wanted heavy molding around the windows and shelves, he knew exactly what I was talking about and did an outstanding job. Even the shelves in the closets are very sturdy. And he did it very quickly. I didn't have to pay for any extra supplies we only pay for what we used. Even the team that painted the walls were outstanding every wall is painted perfectly no smudges no nicks no paint where it shouldn't be. He did three coats, so it is a true and even color. It is perfect. I also asked to have my downstairs doors to match the colors upstairs. The were able to do it and they came up with the match the very next day. I didn't even have to pick it out. The painter even comes back after the job is over to touch up any nicks that might have happened. I found a picture in a magazine of a barn door I wanted. And Kory found someone to make it, destress it and even painted it the same color as my picture. It opens so smoothly I can easily open with one finger. He even added extra hardware at the bottom of the door so it doesn't swing away from the wall. For the two circuit breakers we have, I requested doors over them. So the carpenters just whipped them right out. Kory is very good at remembering all the details I wanted. Our final touch of the rooms were the shutters for the windows. I couldn't be more happy, they found a company that makes and installs the shutters. I wanted a different style than most, but they were not taken back. They even sent me samples of the size and color before they made and installed it. It's like a cherry on top. They even make sure everything is right down to a small cover on a pipe. Not only all that but they have a cleaning crew at the end.”
“Salt was incredible to work with. We had 3 different companies bid out our basement and their professionalism won us over from the onset. They were the only company that took measurements during the bidding process. They used this info to generate a 3-D rendering of what our finished basement would look like. “Detailed and Sophisticated, Responsive, Taking Initiative, Managing Reasonable Expectation We looked at quite a few bids to finish our basement across the span of almost one whole year. Korey’s bid was not the cheapest we got. However, he was the only person that demonstrated a well-thought through vision for our basement, not just a view of patching up walls and putting down carpets but a sophisticated and detailed vision, which we liked and appreciated. From the first time he came over for a bid, he set our expectation to a reasonable time range. However, throughout the construction period, he would take the initiative to move up the scheduling whenever possible, even if that means he had to call to schedule and then reschedule. This has cut down a significant amount of construction time we prepared ourselves for, which makes us happy. Throughout the construction period, he is very responsive to our questions and comments. He is also very knowledgeable of different considerations we were facing, ex. how to design the ceiling of the theater room we wanted so the odd air duct could be hidden as if it was part of the design. He is very detail-oriented and itemizes preparatory things as well as billing meticulously. This helps us have a clear mind set and timeline on what we could expect from them and what we were expected as well. The same applies to billing and payment as well. We have had a great time working with Korey, people associated with SALT/him, and people who came to help us finish our basement. We would recommend him and SALT to anyone without any hesitation.”
